Pride; by Jellen

We strive for money and good fortune
To win the race for fame
But unless we find love along the way
We see that nothing has been gained.

We take pride in our hard earned glory
Superior to the common man
We trampled him to get ahead
Ignored his outstretched hand.

But look at how we've prospered
Taught the upper middle class charade
And while the world is slowly dying
We've learned to look the other way

We've gained glory and importance
But something inside has died
In the quest for power we've lost our ideals
And all that remains is pride.
